BIPV (Building Integrated Photo Voltaics)

BIPV (Building Integrated Photo Voltaics)

One of the most promising applications for Solar Photo Voltaic is to replace conventional building materials such as roof tiles, shingles, facades and normal glazing with Photovoltaic Building materials. These can be so manufactured as to be almost indistinguishable from conventional building products, blending harmoniously with the surrounding environment. At the same time, these materials will also generate electricity. This concept is known as BIPV (Building Integrated Photo Voltaic).

In Rabi Rashmi Abasan, the BIPV concept is going to be introduced. This will not only enhance the aesthetics of the houses, but will also generate about 2000 units of electricity annually which cost Rs. 6000 (App.) at present level of tariff and likely to touch Rs 10,000 (App.) shortly with increase in tariff. The electricity to be produced from Rabi Rashmi Abasan will be use locally or fed into the utility grid. In case of power cut the owner will get at least two light points and one D.C. fan point powered by solar energy.
